The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for Tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor positions in Actuarial Mathematics and Applied Probability. 

The application deadline is March 30, 2025, and the starting date is October 1, 2025, or as soon as possible after that, subject to negotiation.

We welcome applications in all areas of actuarial mathematics and applied probability.

Tenure-track assistant professor

The tenure-track assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations regarding publication/communication/collaboration and research-based teaching, with associated teaching and examination obligations. To a limited extent, the position may also include other duties.

The tenure-track assistant professor must have an academic standing that shows internationally competitive research and/or internationally recognized high potential to make a future impact.

The tenure-track assistant professorship applicants will be assessed primarily on their level of documented, internationally competitive research. They will also be evaluated on their ability to attract external funding and their outreach and collaborative qualifications. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory, but documented teaching qualifications and experience will be considered.

Associate professor

Applicants must have university-level teaching experience and documented teaching competencies. They must also be able to explain and reflect upon their teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.

Duties include research, field development, assessment tasks, grant applications, outreach and collaborative activities, and research management, such as supervising and training research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare, and participate in examinations and fulfil other tasks requested by the department.

The associate professorship applicants will be assessed primarily on their documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, and their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial, outreach, and collaborative qualifications, including their ability to attract external funding, will also be considered.
