Uffe Haagerup passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, in a tragic drowning accident close to his summer house at Faaborg on Funen. Denmark and the whole world have lost a uniquely gifted mathematician, a warm and friendly person, and a beloved father.

The Dean has appointed Elisenda Feliu as associate professor in mathematical biology at the Department of Mathematical Sciences from 1 August 2015.

Sho Tanimoto arrived at MATH/UCPH on July 1st, 2015, as a postdoc funded by Lars Hesselholt's Niels Bohr professorship.

Tage Gutmann Madsen has been a part of the Department of Mathematical Sciences since 1956 - as a teacher, Associate Professor, Head of Department and an emeritus. He died 1 June 2015, 88 years old.

Magnus Goffeng started at MATH/UCPH on June 1st, 2015, as a postdoc funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation for two years. The last four years Magnus has been a postdoc at the Institute for Analysis at the Leibniz University of Hannover in Germany. 

The Dean has appointed Asger Törnquist as associate professor in descriptive set theory at the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Ib Michael Skovgaard has decided to retire from his position as professor in statistics as of 30 November 2014.  The Department of Mathematical Sciences will host a reception for Ib Friday 20 February 2015.

Michal Adamaszek started in a postdoc position at the Department of Mathematical Sciences December 1^st 2014. He is associated with research group Experimental Mathematics.

Nadim Rustom was employed as postdoc at the Department of Mathematical Sciences in October 2014. He is a member of the Algebra and Number Theory group and the Experimental Mathematics group.

The Dean has appointed Steffen L. Lauritzen professor of statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, UCPH.
