Rune Haugseng, new postdoc
Rune Haugseng is employed as a postdoc from 1 October 2015. He will be working with the research group in topology and the Centre for Symmetry and Deformation.
Rune, who is a Norwegian citizen, did his undergraduate studies at Cambridge University and received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2013, under the supervision of Haynes Miller. Since then he has been a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn.
Rune is primarily interested in higher category theory as well as its connections to other areas such as algebraic topology and quantum field theory. So far he his research has mainly focused on foundational aspects of the theory of infinity- and (infinity,n)-categories, as well as extended topological quantum field theories.
