Oscar defended his PhD in 2010 at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, under the supervision of Per Salberger. The last three years he was a postdoc at the University of Göttingen, Germany.
His primary research interest is quantitative arithmetic geometry, at the interface between analytic number theory and algebraic geometry. His planned research projects in Copenhagen aim to use analytic tools for studying the distribution of rational points on algebraic varieties.
