MATH professor chair of mathematics commission

MATH commission

The high school students must be proficient in math. A new commission must find ways to achieve that goal. Chairman of the commission is Professor Niels Grønbæk, Department of Mathematical Sciences, UCPH.

The Commission should provide input for changes in the subject curricula and initiatives to strengthen math skills widely in education.

The Commission consists of 13 members with expertise from secondary schools, primary schools, private industry and higher education. It shall provide suggestions for:

  • the development of the subject content, 
  • examination forms, 
  • transitions between elementary and secondary education, and between secondary education and the different types of higher education, 
  • evaluation and feedback and 
  • the teacher’s competences.

The Mathematics Commission met for the first time 13 September 2016, and will complete its work with a report to the Minister for Children, Education and Gender Equality in mid-November 2016.
