New employees and guests at the department

Jeffrey Collamore, professor

The Dean has appointed Jeffrey Collamore professor of applied probability and insurance mathematics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences from 1 June 2018.

Gherardo Varando, postdoc at CoCaLa

Gherardo Varando started on August 1st, 2018, as a postdoc at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, working with the Copenhagen Causality Lab.

Chuang Xu, postdoc at MBIO

Chuang Xu started July 1'st, 2018, as a postdoc at our department in the Section for Statistics and Probability Theory.

Elden Elmanto, postdoc

Elden Elmanto starts at the University of Copenhagen on 15 July 2018. He will be working with the research groups Algebra and Number Theory and Topology – and the Centre for Symmetry and Deformation.

Lasse Petersen, PhD student at CoCaLa

Lasse Petersen is employed as a PhD student from 1 May 2018 and is associated with the Section for Statistics and Probability Theory and the Copenhagen Causality Lab.

Peter Høyer, guest professor at QMATH

Peter Høyer joins QMATH from April to June 2018. Peter is interested in all aspects of quantum computation and theoretical computer science. He is currently working on speeding up random walks by quantum tunnelling, an important subroutine in many algorithms.

Péter Vrana, visiting professor at QMATH

Péter Vrana, assistant professor at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, is visiting QMATH for six months.

Charles Bennett, visiting professor at QMATH

Professor Charles Bennett from IBM Research is visiting QMATH and the Niels Bohr International Academy from April to June this year on a grant from the Simons Foundation.

Mathias Drton, professor of statistics

The Dean has appointed Mathias Drton Professor of Statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences from 1 August 2018. Drton is also elected as a foreign member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.

Morten S. Risager, professor of mathematics

The Dean has appointed Morten S. Risager Professor of Mathematics (Analytic number theory) at the Department of Mathematical Sciences from 1 April 2018.
