Teaching Associate Professors Thomas H. Danielsen and Søren L. Kristensen

Søren and Thomas will be members of the team working with the major first-year courses in the bachelor's programs - and have various other tasks related to the first year of study and the practice teaching.

They will play a key role in the development of practice teaching and offer help and sparring for the department’s many student instructors. Other tasks will be bridge building to high school, dropout prevention efforts, and the transition from high school to university.

Thomas Hjortgaard Danielsen became a cand. scient. in 2009 from this department with Bergfinnur Durhuus as supervisor - and a PhD in 2013 with Henrik Schlichtkrull as supervisor. Since 2013, he has been employed as an assistant professor/lecturer in mathematics and physics at Espergærde Gymnasium and HF. Thomas has been an external lecturer at MATH since 2016 and a teaching assistant at DTU since 2018.

"In addition to mathematics, I am interested in history and classical music and have played the piano since I was nine. In recent years, I have also become interested in sailing and since 2019 have sailed with the Viking ship Havhingsten in Roskilde", says Thomas.

Søren Ladegaard Kristensen has a bachelor's degree in mathematics/physics and a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Copenhagen. He has taught for a number of years in the Danish upper secondary school as well as on the civil engineering courses at the Technical University of Denmark. He was employed at MATH as an external lecturer in 2019.

Søren, like Thomas, has been a class teacher on the courses "Introduction to the mathematical subjects" (MatIntro) and "Linear Algebra" (LinAlg), and also taught practice groups in "Analysis 0" (An0). They have also both acted as examiners at An0. During COVID-19, Søren was also responsible for the production of extensive video material for the exercise teaching.
