Emil Ditmar Hofman, research assistant
Emil Ditmar Hofman is employed from 1 March 2023 for three months as a research assistant in the Insurance and Economics section.
Emil has a Bachelor's and a Master of Actuarial Science from this department. He defended his master's thesis in January and has gotten the opportunity to write an article based on it.
The thesis - Hazard rates and claims reserving: A proportional hazard approach – was supervised by Munir Hiabu, who will also be the supervisor of the article. The thesis takes a survival analytic and machine learning approach towards reserving in non-life insurance.
“We hope to give a more sophisticated liability estimation while keeping the simplicity which may be preferred in an applied situation,” says Emil.
