Jan van Waaij, postdoc
On 1 July 2020, Jan started in a position as a postdoc at the Department of Mathematical Sciences. He is a member of the section for Statistics and Probability Theory.
Jan did his PhD at the University of Amsterdam under the supervision of Harry van Zanten, where he worked on adaptive nonparametric Bayesian inference for stochastic differential equations.
Afterwards, he did a postdoc at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the University of Padova, where he worked on Bayesian inference for diffusion models, Dirichlet mixture models for density estimation, and the stochastic block model.
In Copenhagen, Jan will work under the supervision of Carsten Wiuf on population genetics, in particular models for genetic admixture and ancient DNA.
