Jonas Gyde Hermansen, PhD student
Jonas Gyde Hermansen started 1 January 2022 as a PhD student at the department’s section for Statistics and Probability Theory under the supervision of Professor Susanne Ditlevsen and Professor Helle Sørensen.
“We will be working on methods of estimation and inference in stochastic differential equations models with random effects and in dynamical systems in general”, says Jonas.
“For starters, we will look into the subclass of Pearson Diffusions for which explicit inference has been demonstrated in the past by the use of martingale estimating functions”.
Jonas has a bachelor in mathematics from Aarhus University and a master in Statistics from the University of Copenhagen, completed in 2021. In his master thesis, he investigated the effect of democracy on economic growth using regression techniques from functional data analysis.
“I have a background in political science and I am in general interested in using mathematical reasoning to understand and model social phenomena”, Jonas says.
Jonas will work from office 04.0.07.
