Jurij Volcic, postdoc
Jurij Volcic is employed as a postdoc at the department from 1 September 2021, associated with both the Analysis & Quantum and Algebra & Geometry sections, and the Centre for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory.
Jurij originally comes from Slovenia, where he did his undergraduate studies in mathematics at the University of Ljubljana. He obtained his PhD from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and afterwards held postdoc positions at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and Texas A&M University, USA.
His research interests lie within real algebraic geometry, free analysis, invariant theory, noncommutative rational functions, representation theory, skew fields, and polynomial optimization.
Jurij will be working with Laura Mančinska on applications of noncommutative real algebraic geometry in quantum information and quantum computing.
