Lars Kühne, postdoc
Lars Kühne was employed as a postdoc 1 August 2020, associated with the section Algebra & Geometry. His mentor is Fabien Pazuki.
In 2012, Lars graduated from ETH Zurich with a thesis titled “An effective result of André-Oort type” under supervision of Gisbert Wüstholz.
Afterwards, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, and the Fields Institute in Toronto.
The Swiss National Science Foundation awarded Lars a three-year research fellowship (Ambizione grant) in 2016, during which he joined the University of Basel as a postdoctoral researcher.
His research focuses on current problems in diophantine and arithmetic geometry. More recently, he has started to work on some new applications of equidistribution techniques from Arakelov geometry to problems of diophantine geometry. From his educational background, he has also a vivid interest in transcendental number theory.
