Laura Brustenga i Moncusí, postdoc
Laura is employed at the department as a postdoc from January 1st 2020. She will be affiliated with the research group Mathematics of reaction networks (MBIO).
Laura will stay for two years, studying Chemical Reaction Networks using Algebraic Geometry at the MBIO group, under the supervision of Elisenda Feliu.
She expects to obtain her PhD in January 2020 from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). Her thesis, “Parametrising clusters of sections”, is a foundational work merging degenerations of surfaces and Kleiman's iterated blow-ups.
Last fall, she was holding a visiting scholarship at TU Berlin founded by the Einstein foundation project "Non-linear algebra". There, she started working on Reaction Networks and implemented a suit of functions to compute the dimension of algebraic sets.
Laura's mathematical interests include topics in pure and applied Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra, such as parameter spaces for the infinitesimal information of algebraic varieties, tensors decomposition and ranks. Read more on her homepage.
