Line Clemmensen, professor
Line Clemmensen joined the department as Professor of Statistics on 1 June 2024. She will be a part of the section on Statistics and Probability Theory.
Line comes from a position as a professor at DTU, where she has largely been researching and teaching since 2010 - interrupted by positions at Maersk Transport & Logistics, among others. She holds an MSc (2006) and a PhD (2010) from DTU.
Line works in statistical modelling and machine learning. She is an expert in spectral image analysis and computer vision. She focuses on statistical evaluation of machine learning and AI systems, e.g., data representativity, few observations, fairness, and interpretability. She has also worked on Gaussian variational approximation for ordinal data with mixed models.
Line has obtained a large number of grants as PI or co-PI from diverse sources, e.g. Novo Nordisk, Danish Ministry of Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, Innovation Fund Denmark, Lundbeck Foundation, and Villum Synergy Grant.
Head of Department Professor Mogens Steffensen says: "Apart from Line's evident achievements in research production and external funding, she is also remarkably dedicated to teaching and supervision. For example, she has served as Head of Studies for Continuing Education at DTU Compute. Further, her list of interdisciplinary collaborations with public and private organizations is outstanding. I am delighted that she has joined us as Professor of Statistics."
