Lukas Junge, PhD student
Lukas Junge started as a PhD student at the QMATH centre on 1 September 2023.
Lukas holds a master’s degree in mathematics from Aarhus University, where he began his specialization in many-body quantum mechanics. It is a dynamic field that has both deep theory and fundamental unanswered questions.
Lukas' focus is centered on the Bose gas, which interestingly undergoes a phase transition at low temperatures, and hereafter finds itself in a new state of matter known as Bose-Einstein condensate. The theoretical understanding of the transition and the mere existence of a Bose-Einstein condensate is lagging, which Lukas hopes to improve.
Therefore, he is writing his PhD at the math department’s QMATH centre under the supervision of Søren Fournais, one of the leading experts in the Bose gas. Here Lukas will try to develop analytical tools to answer some of the fundamental unsolved problems the Bose gas has to offer.
Lukas can be found in the quantum office in Vibenshuset.
