Oscar Bendix Harr, PhD student
As of 1 September 2022, Oscar Bendix Harr will be a PhD student at the GeoTop centre. His supervisors are Jesper Grodal and Nathalie Wahl.
Oscar is broadly interested in algebraic topology but is currently focused on homological stability and equivariant homotopy theory. In particular, he has - together with Nathalie Wahl and his friend Max Vistrup - worked on a new proof of Harer stability which should appear on arXiv.org soon.
In his master's thesis, Oscar extended the results of Vogtmann on the stability of Euclidean orthogonal groups, showing that stability holds for valuation rings (not just fields) with nice arithmetic properties, and with abelian and polynomial coefficients. Combined with the results of Djament, these stability results even give some computations for some very naturally-occurring representations.
“Although I'm Danish, I spent most of my childhood/early adolescence in Singapore, where I also met my fiancé. I returned to Denmark in time for high school and did my bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Copenhagen. I really enjoy the community here, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to stay a while longer”, says Oscar.
Oscar’s office is on 04.4.05.
