Philipp Carsten Hornung, PhD student
Philipp Carsten Hornung started on 7 August 2923 as a PhD student in the department’s section for Insurance and Economics.
Philipp has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in actuarial mathematics, both from this department. After his graduation in September 2021, he first worked as a consultant until the summer of 2022, after which he studied abroad for one year, funded by the “Rejselegat for Matematikere”. Now he is looking forward to returning as a PhD student within the project frame InterAct (Interaction in Actuarial Sciences).
Philipp wrote his master’s thesis entitled “Dynamics of the prospective reserve” under the supervision of Tenure Track Assistant Professor Christian Furrer, who will also be co-supervising his PhD project. The principal supervisor will be Professor Mogens Steffensen.
The PhD project will be about problems in the design of unit-linked pension products, such as optimal absorption of financial and biometric risk in the payout phase, and further studies of biometric risks.
