Philipp Schmitt, PhD student
Philipp Schmitt is employed as a PhD student at the Department of Mathematical Sciences from 1 September 2017. His principal PhD supervisor is Ryszard Nest.
Previously, Philipp studied at the University of Wuerzburg in Germany, where he got his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. In between, he was in Cambridge for a year to take part III of the mathematical tripos.
Philipp's research interest is primarily in the field of formal deformation quantization and its links to strict quantization. In his master thesis, he worked on a construction of strict Wick type star products on coadjoint orbits due to Karabegov. He could find a locally convex topology on the sphere with respect to which this star product becomes continuous.
Philipp is seated in office 04.0.04.
