Philippe Valentin Vollmuth, PhD student

Newly employed

Philippe started on 1 September 2024 as a PhD student in the Algebra & Geometry Section of the department, working with the GeoTop Centre.

Philippe Valentin Vollmuth

Philippe has German and French parents and grew up in Munich, Germany. There he did his Bachelor in Mathematics and Philosophy, with a focus on logic, at the LMU Munich.

During his subsequent Master's at the LMU, he turned towards Algebraic Topology and Geometry, leading to a Master thesis under the supervision of Markus Land. The subject of his thesis was a homotopy-theoretic perspective on sheaf-cohomology, which also served as an introduction to various infinity-categorical concepts.

Continuing in this vein, Philippe is now starting a PhD under the supervision of Robert Burklund and Jesper Grodal. While having no fixed goal yet, the PhD will focus on the interaction between Homotopy Theory, Higher Algebra and Algebraic Geometry, perhaps also exploring computational aspects of these fields.

You can find Philippe in office 04.4.03.
