Phillip Bredahl Mogensen, PhD student
Phillip is employed as a PhD student from 15 August 2019, associated with the section for Statistics and Probability Theory, under the supervision of Bo Markussen, Helle Sørensen and Shyam Gopalakrishnan.
Phillip has a Master's degree in Mathematics-Economics from this department. He did his Master's thesis, 'Greedy Learning of Causal Structures in Additive Noise Models', under the supervision of Jonas Peters.
Throughout the course of his studies, Phillip has focused primarily on statistical courses, with a heavy interest in theoretical statistics and probability theory. Alongside his studies, Phillip has been a long-time TA at the department as well as a student assistant at both Novo Nordisk and Rigshospitalet.
Phillip's PhD project will take its onset in large multi-omics datasets generated in the ongoing projects HoloFish (FHF-Norway) and HoloFood (H2020 Innovation Action) done by collaborators at the Department of Biology and the future GLOBE centre.
These datasets consist of genome and transcriptome sequences generated from salmon and chicken as well as their residing gut microbiota. One of the goals of the PhD project is to develop new statistical models that faithfully integrate information from both host and gut flora. This is important, as it is believed that interactions with the gut microbiota have a strong influence on the host's performance and health. As the datasets are huge the project necessarily will also have a strong emphasis on computational aspects.
Phillip can be found in room 04.03.21.
