Robert Szafarczyk, PhD student
Robert Szafarczyk is employed from 1st September 2024 at the Copenhagen Centre for Geometry and Topology in the department’s Algebra & Geometry Section.
Robert is from Poland and completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Warsaw. For his master's degree, he moved to Paris. He was a student at Université Paris-Cité, supported by the Paris Graduate School in Mathematics (PGSM) scholarship.
During his second year of his master's, he spent 6 months at the University of Münster (Germany) where he wrote his master's thesis under the supervision of Thomas Nikolaus. The project discussed the discrepancy between algebraic geometry and its homotopy theoretical analogue.
“My interests lie in the intersection of homotopy theory, algebraic geometry, and topology. In particular, I am attracted by chromatic homotopy theory, K-theory, and higher algebra in general. I do not have a specific PhD project yet, but it will certainly revolve around those areas”, says Robert. His supervisor is Robert Burklund.
