Niels Richard Hansen appointed Professor of Statistics
The Dean has appointed Niels Richard Hansen Professor of "Computational Statistics" at the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
Niels Richard took his MSc from University of Copenhagen in 2000, and in 2004 a Ph.D. in Statistics. He was assistant professor in bioinformatics and from 2005 assistant professor in statistics at UCHP. From Oct 2010 to June 2011 Niels was visiting scholar in biostatistics at University of Berkeley.
Niels Richard describes his main research objectives like this:
“My ambition is to integrate statistical predictive methodologies with dynamic model building, and to develop the computational procedures needed for data driven model selection.
“My overall vision is to be able to learn models from data that can be used to predict and control, quantitatively, large dynamic systems.”
