Helle Sørensen appointed Professor (mso)
Helle Sørensen has been appointed Professor (mso) with special responsibility for leading the newly established Laboratory of Applied Statistics. The laboratory aims to improve the quality of statistical analysis in research in the entire SCIENCE faculty. This will be done through courses, workshops, collaboration with researchers and by advising researchers and students.
“Helle is good at talking to people. She is both a strong researcher, and a skilled facilitator, lecturer and supervisor, "says Professor and Associate Chair for Research Michael Sørensen. He elaborates:
"Helle is internationally recognized as a statistician with a broad research experience in both applied and theoretical statistics. At the same time, she has demonstrated the ability to establish close and fruitful collaboration with researchers from other sciences."
“Helle has extensive teaching and supervision experience at all levels. This includes teaching of applied statistics to students from other sciences. Helle was the natural choice as leader of the new Laboratory for Applied Statistics ", says Michael Sørensen.
Helle Sørensen took her M.Sc. and PhD in Statistics at University of Copenhagen. She was then Research Assistant Professor at Dept. of Mathematical Sciences and from 2002 at Dept. of Economics. From 2003 to 2008 she was Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Dept. of Basic Sciences (later Faculty of Life Sciences), and from 2008 Associate Professor at Dept. of Mathematical Sciences.
