Professor Uffe Haagerup has received an honorary doctorate from East China Normal University (ECNU), Shanghai. China has only awarded 277 honorary degrees in the past 30 years.

You can overlook centuries of scholarship, if you visit the lunch room at the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The department’s valuable book collection were kept in the mathematics historian's office, but now it can be viewed by anyone in the lunch room on the 4th floor.

Three inaugural lectures

Department of Mathematical Sciences has appointed Jesper Andreasen (Danske Bank), Søren Jarner (ATP) and Thomas Møller (PFA Pension) for adjunct professors. The three gives inaugural lectures on Friday 5 April 2013 from pm. 13 to 17.

Laboratory for Applied Statistics

All SCIENCE researchers and students can now seek advice about statistical topics at the new Laboratory for Applied Statistics. The laboratory also offers PhD courses and workshops in applied statistics.
