Title: Products and coproducts in string topology.

Abstract: In joint work with Nancy Hingston, we show that the "good coproduct" in string topology is homotopy invariant, but yet can be used to detect the presence of loops with k-fold self-intersections in chain representatives of homology classes in the loop space of a closed manifold. After giving some background in string topology, I'll explain these two results.
