Title: Complete intersections, proxy smallness, and Hochschild cohomology

Abstract: I’ll discuss connections, some rather speculative, between the growth rate of Hochschild (co)homology, properties of the identity functor, and the complete intersection property in commutative algebra. All three of these subjects are amenable to generalization and there will be corresponding examples from (modular) representation theory and topology.
