Title: Homotopy theory of monoids and localization
Abstract: In this talk we will show some interesting results in algebraic toploogy by combining two simple ingredients: Discrete monoids and (derived) localization. This includes a recent generalization of Adams’ correspondence between the loop space in topology and the cobar construction in algebra to the non-simply connected case, and a new algebraic model for the homotopy theory of connected topological spaces. This is joint work with Andrey Lazarev and Joe Chuang.
