Professor Lützen’s illustrious career as a historian of mathematics is marked by the publication of a festschrift, Mastering the History of Pure and Applied Mathematics: Essays in Honor of Jesper Lützen (De Gruyter, 2024), which will be presented to him at the event.

1:00 p.m.  Welcome by Dr. Jessica Carter (Aarhus University) and Dr. Toke Knudsen (State University of New York)

1:05 p.m.  Talk by Professor June Barrow-Green, the Open University
                  Ronald Ross and Hilda Hudson: A collaboration on the
                  mathematical theory of epidemics
 
                  Followed by Q&A

2:00 p.m.  Talk by Dr. Davide Crippa, Czech Academy of Sciences
                  Bernard Bolzano and the foundations of elementary geometry
                  Followed by Q&A

3:00 p.m. Break

3:15 p.m. Presentation of the festschrift to Professor Lützen
                 Contributors to the volume will say a few words about their articles

A reception with refreshments will follow in the lunchroom (Room 19, 4th floor) at 4 p.m.
