Derived Algebraic Geometry Seminar

Sinan Yalin

Abstract:  This talk is a preliminary talk for the upcoming reading seminar towards derived geometry. It will be an informal overview of what is derived algebraic geometry and some (of the many) motivations to work in a derived context: handling bad intersections, singular moduli spaces becoming smooth (Kontsevich's hidden smoothness principle), and a new kind of geometric structures (shifted symplectic structures) appearing on a wide class of derived moduli spaces.
