Title: The bulk-edge correspondence for topological phases of matter.
Abstract: Since Kitaev's derivation of the `10-fold way', numerous methods (mostly K-theoretic) of deriving the classification table of symmetry classes of gapped Hamiltonians have appeared. Similarly, numerous methods of relating invariants of such systems to invariants `localised near the boundary' have appeared. In this talk I will describe a uniform way of explaining both the labelling of the phases and the bulk-edge correspondence. This is joint work with C. Bourne, A. Carey and J. Kellendonk.
