Title: The uniform Roe algebra: from discrete to continuous.
Abstract : In this talk we will be discussing coarse geometry of topological groups and how we can deduce many results by passing to the discrete world via a coarse lattice sitting inside the topological group. The most tractible C*-algebra that encodes the coarse geometry of a discrete space is called the uniform Roe algebra. We introduce its counterpart for a topological group and deduce partial results that mirror the discrete case. This is joint work with Jacek Brodzki and Kang Li.
