Title: The Garden of Eden Theorem: old and new.

Abstract: In this talk, completely self-contained, I'll present the Moore-Myhill Garden of Eden Theorem (from Symbolic Dynamics and Theoretical Computer Science) and some of its generalizations. In particular, I shall discuss its relations with amenability, surjunctivity (this is also related to soficity and Kaplansky's conjecture on stable finiteness of groups rings), and with Smooth Dynamics (Anosov diffeomorphsims).
