Title: Complemented Partitions of Unity and the Toms-Winter Conjecture

Abstract: Following a brief introduction to the classification programme for simple amenable C*-algebras, I will discuss the recent progress on the Toms-Winter Conjecture, which is related to the necessary regularity properties for a simple amenable C*-algebra to be accessible to K-theoretic classification. I will focus on the application of von Neumann algebraic techniques, W*-bundles and complemented partitions of unity. This talk is based on joint work with Jorge Castillejos, Aaron Tikuisis, Stuart White, and Wilhelm Winter.
