Title: Spectral triples for subshifts
Abstract: Alain Connes introduced spectral triples as an operator algebraic generalization of elliptic differential operators on manifolds. Despite their origins in geometry, there has been considerable interest in finding examples in the context of Cantor sets and dynamical systems on them. Here we exam some examples for subshifts which are a special case of a more general construction of Christensen and Ivan. It turns out that properties of the spectral triples depend in rather subtle ways on the precise class of subshifts. We will provide short introductions to both spectral triples and subshfts. This is joint work with Antoine Julien (Trondheim).
