Paving the path for an inclusive environment in the Mathematical Sciences

Do you have a brain? … Then you are biased

The Diversity Committee of the Department of Mathematical Sciences invites all students and staff to a workshop to focus on unconscious bias and microaggressions. Together we will pave the path for a more inclusive environment at the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

When: 1st October 2024, at 15:15-17:30 (+ reception)

Program of the workshop:

  • Welcome and purpose of the day
  • Presentation of an anthropological study on diversity in STEM research environment
  • Inspirational talk and group work reflections on how to be aware of unconscious bias, and how to address microaggressions
  • Workshop wrap up

The workshop will be facilitated by Louise Vang Jensen from the consultancy IS IT A BIRD and will consist of inspirational talks and reflections among us to learn about biases and microaggressions, and how to work with these in our everyday studying and working at the department and mathematical studies.

The workshop will be followed by a reception.

Participation is free of charge, but for organizational purposes we would like to ask you to register (by 25th September 2024): REGISTRATION FORM

We are looking forward to seeing you all on the 1st October 2024!
