SYM lecture: The C*-algebras of right-angled Artin-Tits monoids
This a talk in our monthly SYM lecture series. It is colloquim style, and aimed at all members of the center. Sandwiches are provided.
Speaker: Søren Eilers, UCPH.
Abstract: By a construction discovered around the turn of the century, one may associate C*-algebras to general right-angled Artin-Tits monoids; but since these objects fell outside the scope of Elliott's classification program, only partial insight into their structure was found. I will describe how recent progress involving several SYM members and visitors has lead to a complete understanding of their classification theory, emphasizing the topological nature of the invariants which are essentially determined using Euler characteristics. This is joint work with Li and Ruiz.
