Helle Sørensen has been appointed Professor (mso) with special responsibility for leading the newly established Laboratory of Applied Statistics.

Two newly appointed professors held their inaugural lectures 2013.03.01. Professor Viviane Baladi talked about “Butterflies and Hurricanes: A News Update”. Professor Niels Grønbæk about "Mathematics as a metaphor - and why is it so hard to understand?".

Jesper Michael Møller has been promoted to full professor in Topology at Department of Mathematical Sciences from January 1, 2013. 

On November 2, 2012 there was the possibility of experiencing Professor Gerd Grubb at her retirement lecture.

Miguel Alejo was hired as postdoc from May 1 in a 1-year position in the Statistics and Probability Theory group. He completed his PhD at the University of Basque Country, Spain.

Professor Lars Hesselholt has received a Niels Bohr professorship and its associated grant of DKK 30 million from the Danish National Research Foundation.  

Dean John Renner has announced that Erik Kjær Pedersen will be future head of the department.
